I’m no expert in these fields, are you suggesting not to use the contactor with the 120A Anderson? I agree that it can handle much more, But if I protect it with a fuse of similar size, would that be ok?

The 50A connectors are happy at excess of 100A (as long as you aren’t detaching them under load) , I assume the 120A connectors will do much more as well.
